Rode VideoMic Me Directional Mic for Smartphones If you’re shooting mobile video and want better audio than what your phone provides—or if you need to record VO or ADR on the go—the Rode VideoMIC Me is worth your consideration. This is a shotgun mic that plugs right into a smartphone’s 3.5mm TRRS headphone jack, letting you record quality audio in the process.

The mic focuses the audio capture on what’s directly in front of the capsule thanks to the directional polar pattern. It’s primarily intended for use with compatible smartphones and devices that sport 3.5mm TRRS connections. The mic comes with a flexible mounting bracket as well as a furry windscreen for achieving a better sound in windy conditions.

The VideoMic Me is a compact and lightweight directional microphone for use with smartphones. It features an in-built 3.5mm TRRS output for plugging directly into a smartphone’s headphone socket. Its flexible mounting bracket accommodates a wide range of smartphones and allows the microphone to be fitted for primary camera or front camera (‘selfie’) use. A 3.5mm headphone jack on the rear allows for play-through of audio while recording (app dependent) as well as easy playback of your videos without having to remove the microphone. The VideoMic Me includes a deluxe furry windshield for shooting outdoors or in adverse weather.

Perfect for Mobile Video and More

With its simple plug-and-play form factor, the mic is perfectly suited for mobile video recording. However, the quality of the mic itself is good enough to be used for VO or ADR when studios are not available; the mic has been used this way in a few television shows.

Directional Pickup for a Better Sound

The highly directional cardioid polar pattern will help tamp down unwanted room noise and ambience.

Versatile 3.5mm Jack

A rear-mounted, built-in 3.5mm jack works with headphones, or it can also be utilized for backup recording.
